Where do I even begin with this dream session?!?
2021 has been good to me. I worked more than I ever have before. I can’t even recall how many amazing new couples I got to meet. I’ve captured so many I do’s, met puppies at weddings, yelled at groomsmen, and celebrated happily ever afters with my couples and their loved ones yet, I was feeling a creative void.
My very first photography jobs were family sessions. I loved figuring out how to become a better photographer, connect with all the different family members and take the focus off the intimidating camera. But as the years went on, I found wedding photography was a much easier gig to land than family sessions. As someone who moved every other year, I was never able to build a solid client base. While all other photographers around me seemed to create magical family portraits, I spent my weekends following strict wedding timelines. And as much as I love wedding photography, it doesn’t allow for creative freedom as much as family photography does.
So I decided to find my way back to where I originally started. I started by putting together a client closet filled with dresses that elevate family portraits to the next level. I then invested in an online class – All Heart Access by Stormy Solis and finally found all the answers to becoming a more authentic storyteller through photographs.
Now the only puzzle piece I was missing was the perfect family that appreciated candid family photography and would also be willing to let me style them. The Arsenault family turned out to be that missing puzzle piece.
